Diamond Pivot System (DPS)
DPS is a structural interface between a truck chassis and the box.
The idea: instead of rigidly bolting the box to the whole length of the truck frame rails, the box is mounted via a sub-frame with pivot points (two longitudinal plus two lateral/diagonal) so that the box floats and is structurally isolated from the torsional flexing of the chassis.
The “Diamond” descriptor comes from the geometry: imagine the four mounts are arranged so that the box is supported at four corners of a “diamond” relative to the truck’s chassis, allowing the underlying chassis rails to twist or flex under off-road conditions without transmitting that full torsion into the box.
In off-road, heavy duty expedition vehicles, chassis torsion is large (rocky terrain, three axles, large loads) so a rigid mount would either cause structural stress in the box or the mount points, or cause failure of the body-frame link.
Why DPS?
A 6×6 truck (three axles) will typically have a long chassis and is often used for extreme off-road/hard terrain applications (expedition trucks). The chassis will flex, torsion along its length, especially with heavy bodies and uneven terrain.
If the habitation or box body were rigidly attached to the chassis rails, every twist of the chassis would transmit into the body, causing structural loads, misalignments, possible leakage, fatigue.
The 4-point pivot system allows the truck to maintain off-road flexibility (chassis can twist, flex, load shift) while the body is relatively isolated and remains more rigid (improved comfort, structural integrity, long-term durability) — basically decoupling the module from chassis twist.
